Prior to moving to France in 2000, I spent twenty-two years as an architectural modelmaker in London. The great majority of what I produced implicated a colossal investment of time, effort and sleep deprivation over days, weeks, sometimes months, for what was often a very short utility. The most interesting work was not, as one might think, the full presentation models of great technicity, but, rather, the quickly executed study models made in close collaboration with architects. These models provided often the first occasion for architects to visualise their work in 3D and, in return, I got the chance to be a fly on the wall at meetings and participate in the creative process.  None of these models were photographed and none of them have survived and most of the more sophisticated ones would vanish into some dusty vault after a few weeks or months and even, sometimes, after a few days when a model had been produced for a specific meeting. Virtually everything now has disappeared into the mists of time, but a few projects remain fresh in my mind and stand out for me by virtue of their historical or creative input, but, above all, for the richness of the human adventure, the only adventure that has any value at the end of the day.

Here are links to a few of them. This list is by no means definitive.
